Decontamination and deconstruction of buildings and installations - Ile du Corossol

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) wishes to proceed with the decontamination and deconstruction of certain buildings and facilities that pose a risk to public safety located on Corossol Island. Where appropriate/If necessary, these infrastructures will be decontaminated (removal and disposal of hazardous materials) and deconstructed (management of debris). All materials, with the exception of the foundations which will be crushed and buried on site, will be removed from the site and disposed of in accordance with current regulations. Upon completion of the work, the site will be rehabilitated. The remaining buildings and facilities will be assessed to determine the scope of future work.

Notice of Determination

 

August 20, 2021 – The Government of Canada - Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada - issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effect by applying the proposed mitigation measures. The project can therefore go ahead.
