Storm Water Management Upgrade Project at the NRC Dominion Astrophysical Observatory

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is proposing to upgrade the stormwater management along Observatory Road at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DAO), located in Saanich, British Columbia.

Following multiple road wash outs, the NRC is planning upgrades to Observatory Road storm water management systems. The work will improve how rainfall and runoff are managed along the road, helping protect infrastructure and the surrounding environment from damage during heavy rainfall. The project will include installing and upgrading drainage systems, including ditches, culverts, and catch basins, repairing and improving road surfaces, curbs, and shoulders and enhancing natural drainage by directing runoff into grassed areas.
