Potential Regional Assessment of the Trans-Canada Highway Improvement Project

The Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature received a request for a regional assessment of the Trans-Canada Highway Improvement Project, located in Ontario and in Manitoba. The proposed regional assessment would aim to gather information on the adverse effects of the twinning of the Trans-Canada Highway from Kenora, Ontario to the Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba.

April 2, 2026 — On March 12, 2026, the Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature received a request for a regional assessment of the Trans-Canada Highway Improvement Project. The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada accepted the request on March 31, 2026, and is now conducting an analysis to make a recommendation to the Minister on whether a regional assessment is warranted.
