Replacement of Bridge for Winter Road Crossing - Eabametoong First Nation

The Proposed Project

 

Eabametoong First Nation is proposing the installation of a 18 m temporary bridge at a winter road crossing #1 located about 9.5 km east of the community. This crossing has been difficult to flood, freeze and maintain in the beginning of the winter road season, as well as the tail end. The proposed temporary bridge would alleviate these challenges and extend the winter road season, including improving early access to opening and construction of the winter road since it is the first crossing. The scope of work will include:

  • Tree clearing and grubbing;
  • Demolition of current bridge;
  • Removal of topsoil;
  • Importing of fill;
  • Re-grading.

Infrastructure required includes:

  • Aggregates, bearing pads, bridge structure and hardware.

Waste generation:

  • No significant waste generation is anticipated. No hazardous waste is anticipated to be generated. Any waste will be disposed of at the local landfill.

Quarry materials to be used:

  • A mixture of fine to coarse aggregate materials.
