Public Notice Project Name – Public Comments Invited

October 11, 2019 – The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency must determine whether the proposed Shelter for Snowmobile Hub, located at 10 St. Basile, New Brunswick is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public [and may be posted online]. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/document/80255?culture=en-CA on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Madawaska Maliseet First Nation is proposing to construct a Welcome Centre for snowmobilers near the Grey Rock Development on the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation at 10 St. Basile, New Brunswick.

2019-11-12 – The public comment period on the project is closed. The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

2019-11-20 – Because of changes to the project description, there are no requirements under the IAA for this project. The building to be constructed will have a footprint of no more than 1,000 m2 on developed land, with no impact to a water body and no disturbance of subsurface contamination. The parking lot, considered a physical work related to a building, will have a footprint of less than 1,000 m2.
