APEX Utilities Inc. - Opasikoniwew Housing Authority: Hoole Creek Road Subdivision Phase 2 Gasification Project

APEX Utilities Inc., is proposing the construction and opertaition of a natural gas distribution system as part of of the Hoole Creek Road Phase II Subdivision development being undertaken by the Opasikoniwew Housing Authority. The gas distribution system will consist of 595m of 60.3mm diameter polyethylene pipe and 21m of 114.3mm diameter polyethylene gas distribution main. Installation will occur within the existing road and utility alignment using open trenching installation methods and boring under existing roads.

April 9, 2026 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Hoole Creek Road Subdivision Phase 2 Gasification Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
• impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
• Indigenous knowledge;
• community knowledge;
• comments received from the public; and
• technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Therefore, APEX Utilities Inc. may carry out the project in whole or in part.
