Keep the nuclear waste in Southern Ontario.

I currently live in Dryden Ontario.  I was born and raised here. I have lived here all my life except time in Toronto at UofT becoming a professional forester.

I am 76 years old.  There is no sense in being against nuclear energy.  It is used all over the world.  The problem is that no one knows how to saftely deal with the nuclear waste.

If the proposed storage system seals waste securely forever,  why bury it?  If storage is secure and you want to store it underground,  dig a hole near the nuclear generating station.  Why set up a con job to convince the gullible to have the waste shipped 2000 km on accident prone highways?  The Dryden site was picked 20 years ago.  Special rock? No. Out of the Great Lake watershed?  Yes.

How to convince the people to accept the waste?  Leave the people from Dryden which is the closest community downstream out of the process.  Go to the upstream community of Ignace and ask if they want to compete for the privilage of being a willing host.  Give them money.  Promise money.  Give them the illusion of a thriving community with good jobs.

Give every person in the Wabigoon First Nation, which is just east of Dryden, about $145,000 dollars.  How do you think they will vote????

As the crow flies, the test drill site is closer to Dryden than Ignace.  I am so upset that your selection group left Dryden people out of the process.

You are going to have to keep feeding Ignace with money as no one who works at the dump site will live in Ignace.  The distance is almost the same to Dryden as it is to Ignace.

I will be pushing for a public inquirery as to how the selection process was a scammmmmmm.

People should go to jail or worse.

This makes my blood boil.

Bunch of professional slime balls setting up a nuclear dump in Dryden.  How do you sleep at night?

Keep the nuclear waste where it was created.  If the safe system fails in the future, have it fail in an area where a large population will expect the situation be rectified.
