Modernization of St-Bernard-de-Lacolle Port of Entry

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is planning to modernize the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle border crossing. Due to the rapid increase in traffic at the border crossing, the main object of the project is to improve traffic management services and security Therefore, the project consists of maximizing and optimizing the site layout, the circulation, and the existing infrastructure.

This will require the complete reconfiguration of traffic and parking on site, the renovation of certain facilities, the complete and partial demolition of buildings, the construction of new buildings, as well as the construction of new infrastructure. Work will be planned gradually in order to maintain the site operations at all times throughout the duration of the project.

The activities associated with the completion of the project include:

  • Removal of select trees;
  • Excavation and leveling work, as well as the digging of a tunnel;
  • Potential management of contaminated soils;
  • Demolition of buildings, parking lots, and other infrastructure;
  • Construction of new traffic routes;
  • Construction of new buildings, parking lots, and other infrastructure;

Work is scheduled to begin in summer 2024 and be completed in summer 2028.
