Michipicoten First Nation Construction of Two Residential Multiplexes
May 11, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed construction of the Residential Multiplex Buildings in Michipicoten First Nation (MFN) is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project
Michipicoten First Nation is proposing to construct two (2) new pre-fabricated multiplex residential buildings to increase housing capacity in community. One buildling includes three (3) - two bedroom units and the second building consists of six (6) - two bedroom units. Each unit is ~150 m². The selected lots are on developed land and will have septic systems installed, with connections to the existing hydro and water lines in the community. The total area estimated for construction on both lots is 4,500 m².
