The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The proposed project will include the demolition of the existing building at RP-138, along with the excavation and disposal of contaminated soil surrounding the associated 45,000 L underground fuel storage tank (UST). The excavation will be backfilled and a new above ground fuel storage tank (AST) will be installed on a concrete pad on the east side of the entrance into the building RP-137 parking lot. A gravel parking area/pullout will be constructed on the west side of the AST, and the new AST will connect to the boiler in building RP-137. The project will also include decommissioning and removal of utilities within the excavation area, replacement and commissioning of a new water main, and replacement of three existing culverts within the work area with ditch regrading as required to ensure adequate flow. The area will be reseeded with native vegetation, and the existing road surface will be repaved following completion of the work.
