Renovation of the Mgr-Blanche terminal at the Port of Sept-Iles
The Sept-Iles Port Authority and Transports Canada has determined that the proposed renovation of the Mgr-Blanche terminal project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
• impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
• Indigenous knowledge;
• community knowledge;
• comments received from the public;
• expert opinion from other federal departments
• technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
The mitigation measures considered for this determination are for the following elements:
• sediments, soils, water and air quality;
• avian fauna and migratory birds;
• aquatic fauna and environmental noise.
The Port of Sept-Iles and Transports Canada are satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Therefore, they may authorize the project to be carried out.
