Notice of Time Limit Extension with Reasons

Ottawa — August 9, 2024 — The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) has extended the 180-day time limit for the planning phase under the Impact Assessment Act for Torngat Metals Ltd.'s proposed Strange Lake Rare Earth Mining Project.

IAAC has taken this action further to a written request from the Nunatsiavut Government, supported by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, that the time limit for the planning phase be extended by up to 90 days to permit cooperation and alignment of environmental and impact assessments processes between IAAC, the Nunatsiavut Government and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Accordingly, the planning phase will be extended up to November 9, 2024. IAAC will continue to work diligently, and the planning phase may be concluded within a shorter timeframe.
