Commissioner Street Rail Expansion - 1440 Columbia Street – Public comments invited

April 29, 2024 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the Commissioner Street Rail Expansion – permit extension, located between the Commissioner Street overpass (McGill Street) and Victoria Drive, Vancouver, BC is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. 

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed amendment, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed amendment

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Ltd. is requesting a permit extension to the approved project permit PER 21-042, which has an expiry date of May 31, 2024. Additional time is being requested to allow for the installation of steel casing over the Nanaimo Street water main located under the CPKC rail tracks, located at or near 2319 Commissioner Street.
